QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS - REGGIE LOVORN
What is your full
name? Jerry Reginald Lovorn. I was named for my maternal Grandfather, John Reginald Wilkes. Everyone called him "Reggie",
thus my nickname. I was also named for my Father, Charles Jerry Lovorn.
When is your birthday? July 5, 1963
Do
you remember the first professional southern gospel music concert that you attended? Yes, it was in the spring on 1977.
A family friend who was also a coach at the local high school took me to the City Auditorium in Jackson, MS. On program that
night was "The Florida Boys", "The Dixie Echoes", "The Hinsons", and "The Happy Goodmans Family." I still have not gotten
over what I saw and heard that night!
Were You really born and raised at a place called "Nanih Waiya", MS? Yes! Nanih
Waiya has a couple of churches, a couple of country stores, and a high school. That's where I graduated. I was also a member
of the football team. I was an all-conference linebacker as a senior.
Do you have any other interesting items that
you could share? Once, when the gospel group I was a part of performed at a church south of Jackson, MS there was a young
girl there that sang during our intermission. I hardly even remember it, but I suppose we did her a really big favor by being
there so that she could sing. Her name was Faith Perry. She's now known by the name Faith Hill. I think she's had a little
success in the music industry since then!!!
What is something that friends would not know about you if you didn't tell
them? As a young person I was horrified to be in front of a group of people. Now I'd rather talk to an audience of 100 than
to talk one-on-one with a person.
